When I had the oil changed by the gmc dealer (first oil change was free) they used full synthetic oil and a delco filter. I had set the trip odometer the day I bought it and it's averaging almost 17, including some mild camper towing. In other words, if in M5 it will shift normally up to 5th gear and not go into 6th. They tell us to never use 6th while towing heavy. Keep the RPMs between 1800 and 2400 and it will stay the coolest, with around 2200 being the best.
