My suggestion would be to visit the browning site . 1st you should be able to find the date of manufacture and perhaps determine a model . 2nd you can download the manual .read it cover to cover .from there you should be able to disassemble the gun and diagnose the problem .

I completely stripped them and took all the factory grease out of them before I ever shot them. You probably have your friction rings set for light loads. Remove the forearm and look in the forearm to see if there is a picture of how the rings are supposed to go. I think there is a sticky on the Browning lovers forum about this. C.As others have told you, the gun may be dirty, need lubrication, or have the friction pieces adjusted.
